Understanding Energy

Did you know that the largest portion of our global greenhouse gas footprint (more than 70%!) is associated with our energy use? In Understanding Energy, you will learn why this is the case and what we can do to change this. With a curriculum from the summer course CEE107S offered by Stanford University, Understanding Energy is THE club for those interested in energy and sustainability. In this club, you will learn how humanity uses the energy resources available to us (fossil fuels, the sun, the wind, etc.) to meet our many energy needs, whether they be turning on our lights, powering our electronics, or driving our cars. We cover in depth the different energy conversion technologies used to harness our energy resources, and we analyze the ways in which our energy choices impact the environment, policy, society, and the economy. In this club, you will grow your awareness of the energy systems that play a role in your life, learn to think critically about your personal energy use habits, and feel empowered to make an impact on the future of sustainability. The future lies in ENERGY. Join us to UNDERSTAND it. You can view the CEE107S Stanford course here: https://understand-energy-course.stanford.edu/ Meetings: Every Wednesday, 2:40-3:45PM in room 261.
